hi! in this post I would like to share my experience with installing and configuring such a tool as the custom photomode by otis_inf. I hope this tutorial will be really useful and understandable for you, because I will try to give as much details as possible, since I know myself that some things can be difficult to understand if there are no detailed installation instructions


I. downloading necessary files

  1. the custom photomode tool by otis_inf (https://www.patreon.com/Otis_Inf)

    first of all you should download the camera mod itself. to access this you need to visit the author's page on patreon and purchase a monthly subscription for ~€5. then find the post with bg3 and download the necessary file (download the latest version since the previous ones are most likely incompatible with the new game patches)

  2. reshade (https://reshade.me/)

    It’s a universal tool for improving the appearance of your game with which you can create the visual of your dreams, as well as it’s a very important component and without it the camera and effects will not work. from the two download options, I recommend you choose the full add-on support reshade build option

  3. IGCS connector add-on (https://github.com/FransBouma/IgcsConnector/releases)

    a reshade add-on which communicates between reshade effects and otis_inf’s camera tools

    scrolling to the bottom of the page you will see several files, of which you will need only the first one without the “32 bit”

II. reshade installation

  1. run the installer and in the proposed list of games find baldur’s gate 3 (the choice of executable file is very important and depends on what API you use when running bg3: if you use dx11 be sure to choose bg3_dx11.exe, if you use vulkan choose bg3.exe)

  1. then you need to choose what rendering API uses bg3, here again you choose based on how you run the game (using dx11 or vulkan)

  1. It's no trouble at all, you select “install” (I don't have that option since I have everything already installed)
